Aiming for improved performance and alignment with its long-term goals, ESCOM’s Business Transformation Manager (BTM), McVittie Chiphwanya, provided an in-depth overview of the Integrated Strategic Plan (ISP27). The plan outlines ESCOM’s roadmap to success by 2027 and aims to address critical challenges that have previously hindered progress.
Chiphwanya highlighted recurring issues, including inconsistent tracking of previously developed strategies and data inaccuracies, which have resulted in unreliable reporting. These gaps have slowed down ESCOM’s ability to monitor progress effectively and make timely adjustments where necessary.
To meet its ambitious goals, ESCOM has set Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that will serve as benchmarks for measuring success. The Business Transformation department is tasked with overseeing the progress of these KPIs and ensuring that corrective actions are taken when needed to stay on track.
One of the cornerstones of this strategic plan is data accuracy, which BTM stressed as vital for ESCOM’s success. In response to past challenges, the department is working hand-in-hand with the IT team to implement automated data collection systems. This collaboration is designed to ensure that data is not only reliable but also readily accessible for timely decision-making.
The automation of data processes is expected to enhance ESCOM’s ability to maintain accurate reporting, track its performance against the ISP27 goals, and take proactive steps toward achieving its targets by 2027.
