Thirty linespersons from Lilongwe City are undergoing intensive training in WorkForce Management (WFM) System to enable them digitise their work. WFM is the last of the four modules under Faults Management Systems and is integrated with Distribution Management System (DMS).
The system involves closing service orders seamlessly through the use of WFM mobile app.
Speaking when he opened the training workshop at Simama Hotel in Lilongwe on Monday, ESCOM’s Chief Officer responsible for Distribution, Protection and Operations McDowell Kumatso said the system would assist in delivering a new customer experience and will contribute to the ESCOM ISP27.
“The expectation of the Executive Management is that this system will enhance accountability on our part as different levels will be able to monitor workflow,” Kumatso said as he sat in for the Regional Manager Centre.
He advised the participants to interact with facilitators to expound on their practical experience.
“The beauty of this opportunity is that you will remain with the knowledge wherever you will go. So, take this training very seriously,” he said.
The training is in line with 2024/25 ESCOM’s strategic priority pillar II, which calls for improved faults management giving the customer a new experience. Additionally, FMS is a beacon of 360degrees digital experience which was launched in Blantyre a few weeks ago.
A total of 30 linespersons are participating in the training and they have been drawn from Bunda, City Centre, Old Town and Alimaunde (Kanengo).
An ESCOM Taskfoce on Faults Management Systems (FMS) which management set to expedite a paradigm shift from manual workflows to digital systems is facilitating the training.
