Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) Limited has supported the forthcoming International ICT Expo scheduled for Lilongwe by donating K12 million to the organisers, ICT Association of Malawi (ICTAM).
Speaking when he presented a dummy cheque to ICTAM president Clarence Gama on April 30, 2024 in Blantyre, ESCOM Limited CEO Mr. Kamkwamba Kumwenda said the power utility company appreciates the role ICT plays in the development of the public and private sectors.
“The reason we thought of donating this amount to ICTAM is that we think we are operating in the same place, so we wanted to make sure that we support the Expo because going forward, ESCOM is going to be a major player in the ICT sector in Malawi,” he said.
In his acceptance speech, Gama hailed ESCOM for being a trusted corporate partner for ICTAM over the years, saying the donation would help the association add more innovations to the Expo.
“Having your partnership for this event is a big milestone. ESCOM has always been a corporate partner for ICTAM for a long time, and today, I have confirmed that ESCOM is an IT company that provides electricity,” he said
The ICT Expo will run from 9th to 10th May 2024 at Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe under the theme: Digital Transformation: Gateway to Economic Empowerment.
