Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) Limited has donated assorted medical supplies to Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCN), as part of the power utility company’s corporate social responsibility.
ESCOM Chief Operations Officer (COO), Engineer Maxwell Mulimakwenda and Regional Manager-Centre, Mr. George Matukuta, presented 1,098 pieces of crepe bandages and 296 bottles of Iodine to the hospital in Lilongwe on Wednesday, 10th April, 2024.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, the COO said they donated the items to the hospital to appreciate the great role it plays in providing referral health services to the masses in Lilongwe and the surrounding districts.
Receiving the items, the hospital’s Director Dr. Ngoma hailed ESCOM for the gesture, saying it was not the first time that the company had donated such items to the health facility.
Taking his turn, KCN Chief Nursing Officer, Mrs. Kunkeyani, said the items came at the right time when some wards at the hospital had run out of supplies.
ESCOM championed the donation through its Regional Office for the Centre to support the hospital. Matukuta thanked the COO for gracing the event.
