Cases of Vandalism in Chitipa and Dedza

Unknown people cut down three 11-metre poles on our line located between Kafere and Magomero in Dzalanyama Forest in Dedza District on the morning of Saturday, 23rd November 2024.

We have since restored power supply to some of the affected areas. However, Jentcherere, Kafere, Maluwa, Chigwengwe and Diamphwe farms remain without power supply.

The vandals did not steal the vandalised poles.

In another incident, a transformer was vandalised on the night of Friday at Chipwela Primary School in Traditional Authority Mwenemisuku in Chitipa District. The vandals stole cables from the transformer.

Investigations are underway on both incidents.

We condemn such acts of vandalism in the strongest terms as such vices affect service delivery to households,  health establishments, water treatment plants, education sector and business enterprises.

Vandalism is a serious offence which attracts a maximum jail term of 30 years without an option of paying a fine.

Report vandalism: Call 847 (TNM/Airtel).
