Govt signs World Bank grant to increase electricity access

The Malawi government has signed a 250.8 million USD grant with the World Bank under the Accelerating Sustainable & Clean Energy Access Transformation (ASCENT) initiative. Two people arrested for vandalising ESCOM assets

By Hopeson Kafumbwa, Public Relations Intern Police in Chikwawa have arrested Lyford Godoyi and Alex Snart in the district for allegedly vandalising and stealing the Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (Escom) electrical conductor. Chikwawa Police Station spokesperson, Dickson Matemba, said the law enforcers arrested Godoyi and Snart on Monday, January 20, 2025, when they wanted to sell the 200-meter conductor at the Boma.
