New applications for electricity will soon be made online. This will be made possible by a new management information system that ESCOM is implementing.
The online application for electricity will be made through a Web Portal that will be accessed through ESCOM’s website. All prospective customers who will apply for new connections online will be able to follow the status of their application online. They will also be notified of the progress of their application through automated SMS messages and Emails.
The online application is expected to improve the process of new applications and customer service. Currently, prospective customers apply for new electricity connections in person by visiting ESCOM’s customer care centres. They also follow up on the status and progress of their applications through the same in person visits.
Apart from new connections, current ESCOM customers will also be able to use the web portal to check their bills, power consumption, prepaid tokens and other information.
The web portal is part of a Management Information System that ESCOM is implementing in order to facilitate and streamline the flow of information between the corporation’s business functions and improve service delivery. The system is expected to go online in November 2017.
